Goals of Dance Therapy

The overall goal of dance therapy is the integration of the physical, emotional and cognitive processes of the individual into a self-guided way of life.

Specific goals are:

developing body perception as well as a realistic body image, fundamental to an adequate experience of the self and others
  • broadening the movement repertoire in the sense of ego-development
  • working through strong emotional experiences
  • working on intrapsychic conflicts and structural deficiencies
  • supporting authentic movement, self-guided expression and the integrationof the unconscious
  • acquiring new patterns of relationship and action competence
  • fulfilling and integrating individual needs and social competence
